The Twitter Connection

by pamelawright on October 28, 2011

Yesterday, I went on Twitter and discovered Daniel Radcliffe, who starred in Harry Potter, following me.  I must admit I was a little surprised!

Did you know that there’s more than 100 million people on Twitter now?  Wow… that’s a lot of people!  While, it’s true that there’s more people on Facebook than Twitter, it’s also true that Twitter is riddled with influencers and a powerful force in the global marketplace.

I’ve been thinking about Twitter and its significance and have come to this conclusion — Twitter is about relationships.  There’s a sea of people, ideas, and words flowing on Twitter.  However, regardless of how fast it’s flowing there’s still this rare opportunity to make connections with people all over the world who you might never know otherwise.  I was on a call recently when my biz coach Sandi Krakowski shared that people make a spirit to spirit connection.  I believe that and know I am impacted by inspiring things I take in on Twitter and inspiring things I send out.

A year or so ago, I decided to follow Richard Branson on Twitter because he’s the founder of a brand I love — Virgin.  From the time I spotted the Virgin logo as I drove down the Hollywood freeway, I’ve been mesmerized by this brand.  I recently started flying again and you know which airline I chose?  Virgin America of course… for a flight to Dallas and a few months later — Chicago.  I think Richard is one of the great entrepreneurs of the 21st century.  Needless to say, I was encouraged when he followed me back!

And yesterday I was encouraged to find Daniel Radcliffe following me.  When I told my almost 15-year old son he was stunned.  He also said that was awesome and worth 50 swag points (whatever that is)!  He has grown up with the Harry Potter legend and we’ve seen many of the movies together.  And the last one was truly my favorite.  It was sooo good (maybe that’s another article)!  Now, we’re looking forward to seeing Daniel in new things!

I am definitely making connections on Twitter that I don’t have on Facebook.  Why? Well, some people on Twitter are not on Facebook.  And some people are not really as involved on Facebook as they are on Twitter.

What I’m learning about fast paced Twitter is being true to who you are and serving your friends is what it’s all about.  For me that means I get to send out love & inspiration to my friends every day!

What about you?  What are you discovering on Twitter?
